SAVE DATALOGGER: How to make a SATELLITE LOGGER

The SAVE DATALOGGER function allows you to perform the measurements ( LOGGER ) of the satellite transponders stored in a selected memory plan, for example Hot Bird 13 ° East / HBIR13, or in a manual memory plan ( MANUxx ) previously made.

NOTE: If you want to create a manual SATELLITE memory plan, click here and consult the following F.A.Q. How to create a SAT MANUAL MEMORY PLAN to store new satellite transponder directly to the instrument via the keyboard (only for models currently in production).

By default, the LOGGER is saved in the internal memory of the instrument. It will then be possible to view and print it through the interface program for P.C. ROVER S.M.A.R.T. or, only in the models provided, it can be saved directly in an external memory ( MEMORY STICK ) inserted in the USB A port of the instrument.

NOTE: The S.M.A.R.T. it is only compatible with WINDOWS PCs and is not supported by the MAC operating system.

PROCEDURE:

1) Select SAT ( see figure 1 ),

2) Select PLAN ( see figure 1 ),

3) Select SATELLITE ( see figure 2 );

4) Select the desired satellite, in the example Hot Bird 13 ° East / HBIR13 ( see figure 2 );

5) Select MEMORY ( see figure 2 );

6) Select Data File and select the LOG ( LOGGER ) where to save the measurements, for example LOG.1 ( see figure 3 );

NOTE:

  • There are 99 LOGGERS available;
  • The LOGGER corresponds to the main folder where the measurements are to be subsequently saved and identifies the house, building or staircase of an apartment building (see figure 3);
  • POINTS 1, 2, 3 etc. represent the sockets inside the apartment;
  • After selecting the desired LOG, the instrument automatically proposes the first free POINT, for example POINT 1 ( see figure 3 );
  • Each LOG has 20 POINTS.;
  • MEMORY DEVICE: If you wish to save the measurements in an external memory ( MEMORY STICK ) connected to the USB A port of the instrument, select the USB item ( see figure 3 );
  • By default the instrument is normally set to INTERNAL and the measurements are saved directly in the instrument’s memory;

7) Select START SAVE ? ( see figure 3 );

NOTE:

  • If START OVERWRITE ? Appears the selected POINT, for example POINT 1, will be overwritten;

8) LOGGER execution in progress ( see figure 4 );

NOTE: Each colored square represents the QUALITY of the measured channel:

  • GREEN = PASS;
  • ORANGE = MARGINAL;
  • RED = FAIL;
  • UNLOCK = Signal absent ( transponder no longer existing or currently not active ) or not locked ( service transponder or dedicated to data transmission ):

9) At the end, COMPLETED will appear ( see figure 5 );

10) Select RECALL if you wish to recall and view the LOGGER directly on the instrument screen or select EXIT to exit the screen ( see figure 5 );

NOTE:

  • By selecting EXIT, the instrument automatically sets itself up to make other LOGGERS in the same LOG and save the measurements in the next free POINT, for example POINT 2;
  • Select START SAVE ? again to start a new LOGGER;

11) Ruota l’encoder per navigare tra le misure ( vedi figura 6 ). Per ogni trasponder avrete a disposizione ( vedi figura 6 ):

  • NAME ( NOME ): Numero del trasponder TS xxx ( DVB-S2 ) o TP  xxx ( DVB-S );
  • TYPE ( TIPO ): Modulazione ( DVB-S o DVB-S2 ), tensione di tele-alimentazione ( VL-HL-VH o HH ), comando DiSEqC ( A-B-C o D);
  • PWR: Potenza segnale;
  • MER: Modulation Error Rate;
  • N.MA: Noise Margin ( Margine di Rumore );
  • bBER: Errori prima di Viterbi;
  • aBER: Errori dopo Viterbi ( solo per segnali DVB-S);
  • PER: Paket Error Rate ( solo per segnali DVB-S2 );

NOTE:

  • The MENUS ( writings and graphics ) of the figures represented in the following F.A.Q., may vary from model to model and according to the various SW updates;
  • Check that you have installed the latest SW version released in your measuring instrument;
  • For more information click here and consult the following F.A.Q .: TABLE for available new SOFTWARE versions (only for models currently in production).
